Our Philosophy
St. Anthony Village redefine's contemporary communities as a place where residents of all generations and
backgrounds may make their home and share the bond of community.
Housing and care services provided by St. Anthony Village
are designed to enhance the quality of life for our residents.
The Village fosters the dignity of it residents by supporting
independence through personal choice and self-determination.
Each resident, regardless of physical or cognitive impairment,
is afforded privacy and control in matters of personal care,
service place development, and financial management. Great
care has been taken to provide the feeling of "home" conveyed
by the ability for residents to exercise reasonable control
over their environment.

Village services are determined by residents' needs. While
is is anticipated that most residents will elect to purchase
services, the basic rent is designed to cover only the housing
needs of the individual. Each resident participates with
staff, family members and community resource providers as
appropriate to document service needs and assure the appropriate
delivery of those services.
St. Anthony Village commits its extensive expertise and
resources to promote aging in place for its residents. The
Village is committed to assisting in individuals in a manner
that supports the values of choice and dignity.
In 1993, Father Michael Maslowsky
looked beyond the dwindling population, closed school and
five acres of unused land of
his new Parish and envisioned a church-centered village,
surrounded by an active and diverse community with a character
and life of its own.
As director of Pastoral Services for the Archdiocese of Portland, Father Maslowsky knew well the challenges of building
a community in an increasingly fragmented society. However, by creating flexible housing options for seniors offering various care needs
and multiple opportunities for social interaction, Father Mike's Village began to take shape. Rather than isolating seniors
in a sterile nursing environment, St. Anthony Village would allow them to remain integrated in the life of a community that include the
neighborhood parish and a child care center.
St. Anthony Village soon became a model for subsequent projects.
Village Enterprises and SAGE were formed, with Father Maslowsky
as president, to develop and manage other projects, with
all assets dedicated to religious, educational and charitable
purposes.
A prominent group of community leaders agreed to serve as the Board of Directors and hired an experienced team of architects, contractors, development consultants, financial advisors and land planners
St. Anthony Village broke ground in April 1998 with the first residents moved in by August 1999. Since that time St. Anthony Village has demonstrated itself to be the kind of compassionate and
close-knit community that Father Maslowsky initially imagined.
